Millions of people worldwide receive dialysis treatment for kidney disease in order to stay alive. At ikona health, CEO Tim Fitzpatrick is tackling a key piece of the challenge – helping patients transition to home dialysis – but he’s doing it in a unique way. Instead of relying on overburdened dialysis technicians to educate and transition patients, Fitzpatrick and his team are using virtual reality and 360 video to create immersive educational environments. By showing a patient what their new care paradigm will be – not just telling them – they can achieve much higher rates of acceptance. We spoke with Tim at the StartUp Health Festival, held at ViVE in Miami Beach in March 2022.
